What do you want to celebrate about your athlete?

This is Berkley's first year of playing competitive tournament softball. She started the season off intimidated, nervous and didn’t quite believe in her own skillset. With an amazing positive coach, supportive teammates, and a lot of practice and hard work on nonpractice days, she is becoming more comfortable on the field and her competitive side is coming out and she is getting after it.

In our third tournament, this 2020 summer, Berkley was nominated by her coach for MVP as well as the following game from the opposing team as MVP for her hitting ability and heads up play throwing a player out at first base from right field.

"I am so incredibly proud of my son. He has worked so hard within his basketball career, I cannot wait to see how high he flies."

What life skills do you see your athlete learning through sports?

She sees the entire big picture. She knows everyone - from the moms that gets the player's uniforms cleaned, ready and ice in water jugs to coaches and all the players and cheering parents - are to be praised for each and every win!

What is a character trait your Athlete has that you adore?

When the opposing team picks the MVP, they just choose the stand out athlete, little do the opposing team knows, a member of our team could have been hitless all season and that 1 game they finally hit the ball and got on base for the first time all season long! Berkley knows that’s the true MVP story!

She recognizes personal accomplishments, catching a fly ball in the outfield for an 8 or 9-year-old is a huge accomplishment. She recognizes the standout player on the team isn’t always the MVP, the home run hitter isn’t always the best. She knows it takes the entire team from the first pitch to the last to win a game.

Besides sports, what does your Athlete aspire to be?

She’s really enjoying softball right now and the quicker pace of this league over the city league. She just wants to have fun and improve for her team.

Tell us one thing you want your athlete to know.

If you want it, you have to go get it!

Who do you look up to?

Berkley just turned 9 last week, she’s just transitioning out of liking unicorns and rainbows...we will have to wait to see where her dreams take her.

What do you love about sports?

At this age, she loves the social part of it. She defiantly doesn’t like losing, but she enjoys seeing her friends at practices and weekend tourneys.

What do you do in your spare time?

Go fishing, camping, ride 4wheelers, jump on her trampoline, swim, anything to do with friends.

Congratulations, Berkley!
