What do you want to celebrate about your athlete?

During her four years of high school, she had to make it through a lot. She lived through the Great Floods of the Greater Baton Rouge area in 2016 during her Freshman year and then in her Junior year, she had a serious foot injury which caused her to miss her season and had to deal with the cancelation of her Senior school season due to COVID 19. Through it all, she never fell apart, a few tears here and there but she just kept moving forward.

During her injured Junior season, she watched her teammates pick up college offers and I'm sure it hurt knowing she was on the sidelines missing those offers. She didn't talk much about it. She rehabbed and came back from her injury this year. Since that time she received 15 offers to play at the next level. She trusted the process.

Softball was a huge part of her life and being injured and missing those opportunities her Junior year hurt her inside. She probably won't admit it, but I know it did. She came back from the injury with the one focus to be able to compete with her teammates again an pursue a State Title for her high school. She did the work and the offers started coming in.

I am so proud of her ability to keep taking steps even when she was uncertain of the outcome. I know that is a skill transfer that skill to anything she puts her mind to in the future and will have success.

"I absolutely love her competitive drive. She isn't loud or overt about it, but it burns inside of her and when the lights come on you can see it."

What life skills do you see your athlete learning through sports?

She has learned all of the traits it takes to meet the challenges of life head-on: preparation, toughness, tenacity, teamwork, selflessness, setting a goal, and doing the work to achieve it. She has been a winner, she has been looser and she has been everything in between. She learned that whatever you put into something is what you will get in return.

What is a character trait your Athlete has that you adore?

I absolutely love her competitive drive. She isn't loud or overt about it, but it burns inside of her and when the lights come on you can see it. Normally the smallest kid on the field but you'd never know it watching her play.

Besides sports, what does your Athlete aspire to be?

A Registered Nurse.

Tell us one thing you want your athlete to know.

That her parents love her tremendously and we are extremely proud to call her our kid. Keep her faith close to her heart because she will need it as life gets tougher and always know her worth.
